Explore Micronesia is an eco-tour experience designed to give
travelers a unique, off-the-beaten-path adventure while promoting low-key, sustainable
development in the areas visited.
Explore Micronesia goes beyond the ordinary by offering many
additional activities seldom undertaken by visitors.
Tour members will visit native villages, explore ancient ruins from early civilizations
and hike through tropical rain stands of mangrove trees. They will learn first hand about
Micronesian arts and crafts, be entertained by traditional dance and cultural
performances, and feast on island food. Evening discussions will focus on the history and
living cultures of Micronesia, as participants learn about the islands from their hosts,
the local people.
Among the highlights of the trip is Nan Madol, an area of mysterious stone ruins and
ancient canals built by a vanished civilization of Pohnpei. Chuuk, offers an underwater wonderland in its famous Truk Lagoon,
where the sunken armory of World War II has been transformed into a fantasy of coral.
Yap is famous for its largely unchanged island culture and its huge
money, massive discs brought by canoe from distant islands centuries ago and still the
currency of weddings and other ceremonies.
The tour, which is limited to just 16 people, allows for ample free time, whether to
explore or simply to melt into the rhythm of the tides and the trade winds.
Accommodation's are specially chosen for their comfort, charm and typical Micronesian
ambiance.
